It's poisonous. It's flammable. It's green? Why on earth would you want to use it in a refrigeration system. Come to our meeting this month and find out. This month, Dr. Douglas Reindl will be presenting an introduction to ammonia refrigeration systems.
Douglas Reindl, PhD, PE is a professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Departments of Engineering Professional Development and Mechanical Engineering, as well as the director of the Thermal Storage Applications Research Center and the HVAC&R Center, and founder and director of the Industrial Refrigeration Consortium. He is the past chair and current member of the ASHRAE standard committee for Standard 15, past chair of ASHRAE Technical Committee on Thermal Energy Storage and Vice Chair of ASHRAE Guideline 2. Doug received his BS in mechanical engineering technology from the Milwaukee School of Engineering, MS in mechanical engineering from UW–Madison, and PhD in mechanical engineering from UW–Madison.
