November 2011 - Energy Retrofits - 1.5 PDH
Post date: Nov 01, 2011 12:53:53 PM
Description:HVAC very well may be the largest energy user in a commercial building. When you add heating, cooling, and ventilating together and treat them as a single system (as they generally are), it is 45 to 70% of the building’s energy use. For comparison, lighting is usual just 10-30%. Of course a lot depends on climate, building type, and building usage, but HVAC should be a major retro-fit target for those who are concerned about energy conservation.Learning Objectives:
Participants will be guided thru the steps recommended to improve HVAC energy efficieny in an existing commercial building.
How to identify the areas of energy improvement
Discuss HVAC interaction with other building systems (envelope and lighting) as related to energy use
How to act quickly on the “low hanging fruit”
Discuss energy saving HVAC technologies
Presenter:
Stacy Gualandi, LEED AP, is a Product Manager at HVAC Solutions, a TEC company. Stacy has been with TEC since 2005 when she started as a sales engineer. She is experienced with heat pump systems (geothermal and variable refrigerant flow), energy recovery ventilators (ERVs), make-up air units, and other commercial equipment. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
