April 2012 - The Green Building Standard - 1.0 PDH

Post date: Mar 15, 2012 1:36:26 PM

ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, Dr. Merle McBride, will be speaking on Standard 189.1, the Standard for the Design of High-Performance Green Buildings. This standard was developed as a collaborative effort with representatives from ASHRAE, USGBC and IES. It was written in code language and contains the minimum acceptable criteria for high-performance green buildings. The criteria covers six broad categories: Site Sustainability, Water Use Efficiency, Energy Efficiency, Indoor Environmental Quality, Building’s Impact on the Atmosphere, Materials, and Resources, and Construction and Plans for Operation. Each category contains a statement of scope, compliance paths, mandatory provisions, prescriptive option and a performance option. This overview will help you understand the new requirements, how they impact your business, and highlight what technical expertise, skills and knowledge will be needed to apply this standard.
