February Chat

Welcome to first the NI ASHRAE "Fireside Chat"! We are developing this series to give an open platform specifically to our YEA professionals and Student members to "ask us anything" about the industry. We are open to nerding out about technical questions, sorting through the path to professional development, and anything else we can do to be resources for our newest members while we are still physically distant from one another. We look forward to fielding anonymous or direct questions and continuing to build our local ASHRAE community!

This Month's Panelists will include:
Taylor Thompson - Milles Engineering
Andrew Hampel - Johnson Controls
Brad White - Alliance Architects
Zach Alderman - DLZ

Virtual Meeting - February 04 2021
Cost: --free--
Student Cost: --free--
Program: 6:30 pm EDT - 7:30ish pm EDT (5:30 - 6:30ish CDT)

The Northern Indiana YEA will be hosting another Rocket League tournament on Thursday December 17th.

Rocket league is a fast paced game that combines soccer, cars, and rocket engines.  The game is "Free to Play" and available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.  You can participate in the tournament using any of the 4 platforms.  For more information, check out https://www.rocketleague.com/

We will convene in the YEA discord channel at 6EDT/5CDT to coordinate teams and finalize the tournament format.  There will be open play both before and after the tournament (up to 4v4).  To participate, please join our discord server at https://tinyurl.com/yea-rocket.  Some of us will participate via voice chat, but text chat during the event is welcome as well.  You don't need to be a participant to join the chat, feel free to join us even if you don't want to play the game.

While the event is being hosted by the Northern Indiana YEA chapter, it is open to other chapters, people who no longer qualify for YEA, and even friends with no direct connection to ASHRAE!  Feel free to invite your friends.  We will adjust the precise tournament format based on the number of participants.  You can come with a team already organized, or we can help you find a teammate from the chat.

To help with prevent delays in the event, please have the game downloaded and if possible know your RocketID.  If you don't know your RocketID, we'll help you find it in the chat.

Brad White will be live streaming his in game session on twitch.  Feel free to watch on his channel here: https://www.twitch.tv/hvacengi

Thank you to everyone who participated in our first YEA event of the year! Despite being in the middle if a global pandemic, we had a great turnout with 11 people participating either in the chat or on the battle field, including a member from the Western Michigan chapter. There was great energy and enthusiasm, mixed with a little competitive banter, which brought entertainment throughout the event.

I want to extend a special shout out to Brad White and Dustin Gahimer for taking home the crown as the Champions of Rocket League Round 1, rallying back from a 5-0 deficit for a 7-5 victory! Do you think your team has what it takes to steal the crown in Round 2? Be on the lookout for more details regarding the next YEA event coming in June!
