BAS Success with IoT

As “connected” and “smart” devices become more and more commonplace in our industry, several are left wondering exactly what is, can be, and should be accessed through the internet. Questions concerning how these devices are networked, and how they can be leveraged for the benefit of buildings and their operators also arise as this technology is leveraged. Beyond these questions, valid concerns surrounding data security are also prevalent. This presentation seeks to explore answers to all of these questions and discuss how to better serve buildings, their occupants, and their owners/operators.

David joined Trane, in July of 2017, as a BAS Account Manager as part of the team chosen to startup new offices in Springdale and Little Rock Arkansas. Preceding this he worked for a 3rd party owned franchise office for Trane. He attended the Trane Controls Graduate Training Program in St. Paul, MN, a controls specific offshoot of the renowned “Trane GTP” program, as part of the inaugural class. Throughout all of his time with Trane, David has divided his time between working with engineers and facility owner/operators in control system design based on Trane and Tridium systems, and assisting in the management of the controls fulfillment teams.  Prior to his time working as an ATC contractor, David worked for an Arkansas based consulting firm, Bernhard TME, for nearly seven years, first as a student intern while completing his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arkansas, then continuing on as a Mechanical Designer/Engineer Intern upon graduation. As a proud member of ASHRAE since 2013, David currently serves the Northwest Section of the Arkansas chapter (which is slated to become the first new chapter of ASHRAE in over decade in July 2018) as secretary, and has also been member of the Steering Committee, Student Activities Chair, and has contributed to other committees including Social and YEA.
